Ambattur is an important industrial town located in Chennai
Extension. The town constitutes a regional suburb of the adjoining
district of Chennai called Tiruvallur. The region is situated
towards the west of the city and at a distance of about 13
kilometres from central Chennai. The place s connected with the
continous road and railway links.
The locality of Ambattur is essentially an industrial area. The
industrial area was developed and made fully functional in the year
1964. The township features one of the biggest small scale
industrial estates in whole South Asia. The place houses some of the

Hospital, Sir Ivan Stedeford Hospital, Dr.RAbindran's Health Care
Centre. Ambattur township houses a good number of local markets
catering to the residential population. The markets are provided as
special markets and super markets. Special markets comprises of
shopping areas that sell only a selected category of articles. The
super markets, however, are provided with whole lot of stuff. Farm
Bazar, Ponnu's market, Golden Super Market, Subiksha market are some
of the best shopping places in Ambattur. The region also features a
number of popular entertainment institutions.
